First Day Hikes offer a chance to start the new year off on the right foot by exercising in nature. Each participating state park offers a unique opportunity to enjoy self-guided hikes, scavenger hunts, or limited capacity guided hikes.
Offering Overview
Start the year off on the right foot by exploring the beautiful state of Colorado. Choose between all the Colorado Parks and Wildlife trails to experience the state's natural beauty.
Hikes are free, but park visitors must have a valid park permit to participate.
Prior to the hike, certain parks may require a reservation; visit the park's website for more information.
Hikes will vary in difficulty and length based on the region and weather.
Bring snacks, drink, extra clothing, and traction-enhancing hiking shoes.
Bring trekking poles, snowshoes, or shoe spikes if the trails are icy or snowy.
